What is your vision for P&SM:
In the first place to ensure there is a carder for SCM in Government. Secondly, to ensure that SCM and Procurement finds its rightful place in the structure of organizations and doesn’t get parented by accounting or finance. Thirdly, Government is about spending money efficiently and I would like to introduce a model where Procurement can bank and re-direct the savings. Finally, my passion is skills development throughout continental Africa and elsewhere in the world where it is required. Accordingly I involve myself right here in this department (where we have 8 interns in service) and also on the continental and international levels. I was privileged to be invited by the World Bank, which holds it’s Fiduciary every two years, to present over two hundred staff with financial training over three days. It was challenging with interpreters necessary in French, Portuguese and Spanish. It was also extremely rewarding and, my involvement in development has taken me to many parts of the world and through-out Africa.
Personal best achievement:
To have managed the reform of new SCM Policy for Government on 10 September 2003.
The person that has had the biggest influence on your life:
Without hesitation my father who as parent to 11 children ensured we all got through tertiary education and were imbued with the Christian ethic which has carried me through life

Mr. Damon Donnald, the Executive Audit Manager of the Gold Division of Anglo American who steered my career from auditing into the wonderful world of procurement, materials management and presently, Government SCM
