Demand Management Consultant – Cape Town

Santam is currently looking for a Demand Management Consultant who will be responsible for managing and analysing business demand to continually identify avenues to drive down consumption, and implement those opportunities whilst ensuring that business requirements are met and risk is managed.

Job Purpose and Principal Accountabilities:

  • Scope, plan and manage iterations of the Demand Management cycle, including setup and meeting of the Cross Functional Team
  • Gather data and map the business spend profile including internal (actual and budget) and external data
  • Understand and differentiate between business wants and needs, challenging business requirements to standardise as far as possible
  • Analyse the mapped spend profile to identify and prioritise opportunities to drive down spend
  • Create the demand strategy, defining the policy and practice to be put in place to drive down spend
  • Understand, record and manage the business risks associated with the Demand Strategy, including the impact on vendor contracts
  • Plan and manage the implementation of demand strategy, along with the Cross Functional Team
  • Monitor aggregate compliance to policy, creating the performance compliance dashboard and reporting to the Category Advisory Board
  • Engage with Cross Functional Teams, stakeholders and CAB to ensure that requirements are actively challenged and agreed, and that business supports Demand Management initiatives
  • Communicate category strategy, objectives and performance targets with management of relevant business function.

  • Minimum B.Comm or equivalent, preferably with relevant Honors qualification (accounting, finance, statistics, mathematics etc.)


  • Previous experience in working with a similar role
  • Financial Services industry experience (preferable)
  • 5 plus years experience in an analytical or change environment
  • Experienced in developing policies to affect business behaviour
  • Strong project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experienced in developing policies to affect business behaviour
  • Good people management experience


  • Excellent interpersonal/ and negotiation skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
