A group of Ghana’s procurement, logistics and supply chain fraternity as well as industrialists and business executives has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo decision to appoint Prof. Boateng.
The group said that Boateng’s appointment demonstrates the Ghanaian President’s commitment to strengthening the growth of Ghana’s industrialisation, reinforcing value-for-money procurement in the public sector, and supporting the quality of government service delivery and supply chain development.
Boateng’s experiences on the global stage and his understanding of (amongst others) the procurement, logistics, manufacturing and production aspects of supply chain management in a developing-economy context will be instrumental in assisting the government to achieve Ghana’s long-term strategic objectives, said the group.
“The President means business… transformation is on the cards for Ghana’s long-term industrialisation and socio-economic development agenda”.
Boateng will perform a non-executive supervisory role at the PPA to help transform and reposition the organisation in support of Ghana’s long-term industrialisation and socio-economic developmental agenda.
The Prof’s appointment is part of a critical goal to create professional standards for the procurement aspects of supply chain management so that practitioners can be held accountable for their actions, said the group.
Boateng is Africa’s first ever appointed Professor Extraordinaire for supply and value chain management (SBL, UNISA), is an international professionally certified Chartered Director and an adjunct academic. He is the founder and CEO of PanAvest International and Partners – a vertical-specific human-capital development organisation.
Independently recognised as one of the vertical-specific global strategic thinkers on procurement, governance of emerging-world industrialisation, logistics, and industrial engineering in the context of supply and value chain management, Boateng continues to play leading academic and industrial roles in supply chain strategy development and implementation, both in Africa, and around the world.
